ECLAS co-director Malcolm Brown awarded OBE

ECLAS co-director Revd Dr Malcolm Brown has been awarded an OBE in the King’s Birthday Honours this week. The honour is in recognition of his work as the Church of England’s Director of Mission and Public Affairs, and later Faith and Public Life, from 2007-2025.

In these roles, he led the Church’s engagement with public policy, ethics, and social issues, helping to shape its voice in the national conversation.

Malcolm’s expertise in Christian ethics and in the church-policy interface has been of huge benefit to ECLAS, where he has been a co-director for over ten years. He has made significant contributions in helping us to understand the complexity of the role of the Church of England in public affairs, pushing forward the importance of the emerging field of AI, and opening up opportunities to engage with senior Church of England leaders. We are delighted that he has been recognised with this honour.
